PhD ASSISTANTSHIP - Washington State University

The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture’s Stone Fruit Physiology and Breeding Program at Washington State University is seeking a motivated, highly qualified individual to join a dynamic research team working in close cooperation with industry. Funding is available to conduct research in sweet cherry physiology, with an emphasis on novel high efficiency orchard systems, mechanization of harvest, and fruit quality.

The successful candidate will have flexibility in their program to include components of engineering/automation, postharvest physiology, economic analyses, or genetics/genomics.

This position is part of a broader, interdisciplinary team developing sustainable production, processing, and marketing systems for sweet cherry. Research will be based at the WSU Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Prosser, WA.
