California State University, Fresno’s Department of Viticulture & Enology and Viticulture & Enology Research Center provides world-class education, research and outreach programs. Our faculty and practical, hands-on teaching are nationally and internationally recognized.

Position: 12-month assignment with tenure. 25% administrative, at least 65% research and outreach, and approx. 10% teaching. Professionalism, collegiality, and integrity are essential traits. Successful candidate will communicate effectively, work cooperatively, and provide leadership to the academic and research programs: administer, develop, and operate programs; enhance instruction and research capacity; develop strong and effective liaisons with all branches of the viticulture and enology industries of California’s San Joaquin Valley; formulate and implement strategic plans and budgets; effectively represent the Department and VERC.

Requirements: PhD from an accredited institution, evidence of ability to plan, budget, and manage an academic department in a consultative and collegial style. Evidence of research, scholarly and teaching activity commensurate with rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor with tenure. Appointment at the rank of Professor requires a record of outstanding teaching, scholarly work, and/or professional activities. Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred: Experience and familiarity with California grape and wine industries.
