In 1989, the ASHS Board of Directors approved the creation of the Horticulture Hall of Fame Award.
This prestigious premier award is to honor distinguished persons who have made extraordinary contributions to horticulture. Its purpose is to educate and inform younger members of the profession and the general public about the important contributions of horticultural pioneers who made significant impacts on horticulture and how their achievements contributed to the science and profession of horticulture and to the greater public good.

An individual Horticulture Hall of Fame Plaque inscribed with the name of the awardee and engraved likeness will be installed at ASHS Headquarters. A narrative (1000-2000 words) about the awardee's contributions and effect on horticulture will be published in HortScience.

The nominee may be:

a) an ASHS Member or nonmember;

b) a member of any discipline;

c) involved in any activity pertaining to horticulture; and

d) a citizen of any country.

Nominees shall have made outstanding contributions in any area(s) of the horticultural profession, such as research, teaching, extension, administration in public and private institutions, industry, government service, or international horticulture. The effect of the nominee's contributions on horticulture need to be well-documented.

Nominees not selected for the award in the year of the initial nomination shall be kept on file for automatic consideration again the next year, without requiring renomination.

Please DOWNLOAD THE APPLICATION. Save form to your desktop. Complete pdf form. Please remember to save all information on form - it will not automatically save.

Once application is complete, upload it in the following form along with the supporting documents.

Nominators are encouraged to submit a feature article to HortScience (optional), about a successful nominee instead of publishing a brief narrative, as this would have greater educational value.

Deadline is February 4.
