Distinguished Achievement Awards are given to encourage and recognize outstanding achievement of a specialized nature consistent with the overall objectives of the Society. The Vegetable Breeding Interest Group Award of Excellence permits the recognition of noteworthy achievements in Vegetable Breeding.
The Vegetable Breeding Interest Group Award of Excellence recognizes breeding programs that have had a significant impact on the vegetable industry within the past 20 years by providing salient basic information and/or cultivar or germplasm releases.
The nomination should include a description of the accomplishments of the nominee and documentation listing publication and or specific cultivar or germplasm releases. Some estimation of the effect on the vegetable industry is required.
Supporting criteria will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of three nationally recognized vegetable breeders. The selection committee will determine whether each nominee meets the criteria established by the group and will choose the recipient of the award.
This award will be presented during the business meeting of the Vegetable Breeding Interest Group at the ASHS Annual Conference.
